New Realtor Qs Answered by the Pros
Being new to real estate means you still have lots of questions, which is okay. Trust me, I have years of experience and I still have questions. The real estate industry has many levels and areas I have yet to scratch the surface. But some of the questions I have here are questions I can answer.

Q: How do you find leads?  A: Your sphere of influence! Your close friends may have homes but the people they know may be looking for a new home or looking to sell their homes. Keeping in touch with those valuable connections can come in handy when they are looking for a reliable real estate agent when they want to buy or sell a home.

Q: What can one do for marketing?  A: It depends. Some agents prefer to be a little old school where they do cold calling, send out letters or visit their previous clientele to see how they are doing since they moved into or sold their last home. Other tech savvy agents use social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok to increase their number of followers. More followers means more people seeing the services you provide and possibly reaching out to you. What I recommend is a mix of both techniques to reach more people. Some clients may prefer old school methods and some may keep up with the times and be more accessible through social media.

Q: How would you pick your first brokerage?  A: Interviewing with different brokerages to see what they offer and how they can help you achieve your goals is important when picking your first brokerage. Ask about commission splits, see how their team can help you, if they have a transaction coordinator that can assist you when you get your first deal, etc. Come to the table with strong questions and don’t be afraid to ask because if this is the brokerage for you, they will have no trouble answering your questions.

Q: Is it better to start in a team or a solo agent?  A: Start in a team. Being surrounded by experienced agents that can help you whenever you run into problems can help keep you growing and challenge you to aspire to be at their level someday. Running solo is possible but if you have the chance to learn from agents who have more years under their belt, take advantage of it so you can miss the hurdles they went through.

We know you may have more questions than the ones addressed above but we hope that these have offered some insight on what questions you should be asking as you start in your real estate career. A lot of these questions will slowly start to be answered as you gain more experience. But asking these questions to your brokerage or even doing your own research can help you grow and learn more about what you can do to be successful in the real estate industry.
